Born into a military family, MacKenzie has lived in multiple states and houses, spending most of her youth growing up in Fayetteville, North Carolina. Her passion for music and especially singing has always been prevalent from the moment she could speak, perhaps even before then. As of spring 2022, MacKenzie graduated from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte where she earned her degree for the Bachelor of Arts, as well as a minor in Religious Studies.
Prior to pursing her passion at a collegiate level, MacKenzie spent her first two years studying the clarinet in middle school before addressing her true passion of vocal performance. She indulged in her love for teaching children all throughout her time at Jack Britt High School, from which she graduated in 2016. During her time there, she was an elementary school teacher’s assistance through a program offered at her public school, as well as a teacher’s assistant at her very own high school to aid in her classmates learning. These experiences in helping others and sharing her love for music continued to grow and shaped MacKenzie’s overall goals in life. MacKenzie has also participated in a multitude of notable performances in her career thus far, such as Cumberland County’s All- County and All-State Chorus in 2016, where she was placed as the first-chair second soprano, as well as having the opportunity to be a vocalist for the well-known Eagles band in 2022. She has traveled to many states during her high school choral experience including having the opportunity to perform at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York.
MacKenzie is a classically trained vocalist and pianist with experience in performing music such as opera, art songs, chorale music, musical theatre, as well as more contemporary music such as pop and jazz. She is well versed in the articulation and phonetic pronunciations of a variety of languages including German, French, Italian, Latin, English, and some Spanish. MacKenzie has spent two years studying and playing the piano, taking four levels of the instrument at a collegiate level. She has been largely influenced by her vocal professors over the years, such as Margaret Haigh, a soprano vocalist, as well as what was her primary vocal professor, Audrey Babcock.
MacKenzie strives to aid in her student’s musical learning and progress by instilling multiple aspects of music knowledge into her teachings. She incorporates important characteristics into her lessons to further advance her student’s knowledge such as: music theory, aural competency, piano playing, and vocal pedagogical techniques.
